Week 0 : Semester Break Thoughts π
Before, I embarked on this final year project, I was asked myself what my goal was going into the Computation in Design atelier? My initial proposal that I submitted aimed to experiment with computational design to challenge the traditional graphic design landscape.

(1) Interesting. But this proposal does not present a problem.
-
(2) I acknowledge the interest in critical making
-
(3) I see a keen interest to embrace coding and computational design into graphic design.

My semester break reading:
What Design Can't Do
Key Takeaway: In the discourse of graphic design and authorship, Lorus suggests graphic designers to emphasise on knowledge and culture (which he refers to 'cultural producers') instead of chasing technological skillsets. The book is a good manifesto for graphic designers who finds themselves struggling in the capitalistic chase to focus on humanistic work offering their profession to various field of studies/research. #ThrowbackTuesday
Defining my practice has always stressed me because I have such a broad interest, and putting it into words always seems impossible. So, this week, I mapped out all my interests over the years using images. In this exercise, I dived into my previous works and mapped out my favourite projects. I categorised them into (1)Identity, (2)Nature, and (3)Aesthetic, I reflected on why I liked them, why they were important personally, culturally and socially.
The result of this exercise was realising that I have always been curious about the topic of nature. I often use plants, natural environment,in my personal sketches and I am curious about how I can engage in a meaningful conversation about the environment in today's society.

Reflection π§°
After a little throwback, I realised I like experimenting with a bunch of different tools and express my thoughs on plants, trees, parks and natural stuff. I see a gap in exploring how I can explore on the topic of nature more meaningufully as a designer in today's society - one where it's constantly shaped by technolgical advancement.
